Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga develops steadiness and ease in the body using classical yoga postures, called asanas, which have been practiced for thousands of years. Classes begin with a centering/breath awareness and progress into yoga asanas that develop strength, flexibility, balance & vibrancy. Classes end with a deep relaxation.

Introductory Level - for new students with little or no yoga experience. Learn the fundamentals of attention and alignment in the yoga postures.

Intermediate Level - Move to the next level with more challenging asanas at a more vigorous pace. These classes are appropriate for students who have completed the Introductory series and want to deepen their practice. Develop a greater refinement in the asanas while exploring your breath and energy as you explore twists, forwarding bending, back bending and inversions. Yoga experience required.

All Levels - For new students or those who are continuing their study of yoga.

Svaroopa® Yoga

Svaroopa® yoga classes begin with a deep relaxation and breath practice, progressing into postures that release the muscles around the tailbone and sacrum and carry the changes up the spine. Using blankets & props for support in each pose, you are invited to melt into support and experience the bliss that arises out of unraveling your spine and mind. Classes end in a deep relaxation. Many students suffering from pain will experience relief as they open their body and breath. For more information visit www.Svaroopayoga.org.

Introductory - Learn the basic poses of Svaroopa® yoga as well as the principles of core release. Upon completion of this series you may attend Continuing Svaroopa® yoga classes. This series is open to everyone. Plan on attending all 3 classes. Due to the progression of poses taught in this series no drop-in's are allowed. Pre-registration required.

Continuing - When you have experienced how to release in the Introductory series, this class will take your practice further as you experience the benefits of learning even more effective ways to release your spinal tension. For Svaroopa yoga students who have completed an Introductory series.

Deeper - When you are ready for even deeper releases in your body and your mind you may attend by invitation from the teacher.

Monthly Workshops - Designed for Introductory, All Levels, Continuing and Deeper students to enhance your in class and home practice.

Energy Awareness

In this class emphasis is placed on developing awareness of your internal and external energy and to educate and empower personal self healing. Class begins with a 15 minute warm up, progressing to meridian stretching and flexibility exercises. We then practice an 18-movement Qi-gong form, an ancient practice of graceful movement coordinated with breath. This is balancing, calming and invigorating. The class offers a safe space to share personal experiences and to gain clarity through an exploration of feelings and daily concerns and bringing them into discussions or a group conscience. The class concludes with a seated meditation.
