Class Descriptions

Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga develops steadiness and ease in the body using classical yoga postures, called asanas, which have been practiced for thousands of years. Classes begin with a centering/breath awareness and progress into yoga asanas that develop strength, flexibility, balance & vibrancy. Classes end with a deep relaxation.

Introductory Level - for new students with little or no yoga experience. Learn the fundamentals of attention and alignment in the yoga postures.

Intermediate Level - Move to the next level with more challenging asanas at a more vigorous pace. These classes are appropriate for students who have completed the Introductory series and want to deepen their practice. Develop a greater refinement in the asanas while exploring your breath and energy as you explore twists, forwarding bending, back bending and inversions. Yoga experience required.

Yoga Flow - or "vinyasa" style yoga is a fluid practice that links movement and breath. A flow yoga class focuses on the dynamic aspect of your asana practice, with more emphasis on well orchestrated movement and smooth transitions from posture to posture. Yoga Flow All Levels - for new or continuing students. Yoga Flow Intermediate - for experienced students only.

Svaroopa® Yoga

Svaroopa Yoga classes begin with a deep relaxation and breath exercise, progressing into postures that release the muscles around the tailbone and carry the changes up the spine. Using blankets & props for support in each pose, you are invited to melt into support and experience the bliss that arises out of unraveling your spine. Classes end in a deep relaxation. Students suffering from pain will experience relief as you open your body and breath. For more information visit www.masteryoga.org.

All Levels - for new students or those who are continuing their study of Svaroopa yoga. Complete detailed instruction is given with personalized attention to alignment and guidance on how to deepen awareness of the body in each pose/angle.

Deeper - for students who have a home practice, have been attending Svaroopa yoga classes regularly and are familiar with the fundamental poses of Svaroopa yoga.

Prenatal Yoga

Support yourself and find out how good you can feel throughout your pregnancy. Terri brings a blend of gentle stretching, supported poses and breathing to open your body and mind during the changes throughout pregnancy and to prepare you for delivery. We will also discuss poses that are beneficial during the postpartum period to keep your back, neck & shoulders relaxed and in good alignment. No yoga experience necessary, must be past your first trimester.

Energy Awareness

In this class emphasis is placed on developing awareness of your internal and external energy and to educate and empower personal self healing. Class begins with a 15 minute warm up, progressing to meridian stretching and flexibility exercises. We then practice an 18-movement Qi-gong form, an ancient practice of graceful movement coordinated with breath. This is balancing, calming and invigorating. The class offers a safe space to share personal experiences and to gain clarity through an exploration of feelings and daily concerns and bringing them into discussions or a group conscience. The class concludes with a seated meditation.
